Look at the chords as if you were looking at the guitar that is standing up.

Each chord has six strings. The sixth string, or low E, is on the far left. The first string, or high E, is on the far right. The space between the horizontal lines is the fret. The dots tell you where to put your fingers. The numbers tell you which fingers to use (1 = index, 2 = middle, 3 = ring, 4 = pinky, T = thumb). An 'O' underneath a string means to play that string open. An 'X'(Dead String) underneath a string means don't play that string.
